The collaboration brings together two generations of artists, writers, musicians, editors and provocateurs, including publishing iconoclast Jane Pratt, novelist Chris Kraus, indie rocker Will Oldham, cult fashion designer Wendy Mullin, Gen Z power agent and party girl Maya Raiford Cohen, cult novelist Nicole Sellew, polarizing anonymous art critic Diva Corp, celebrity and fashion photographer Christy Bush, and many more.
Born out of the cult reading series Casual Encountersz, writer Sammy Loren’s On The Rag is a literary journal disguised as a sleazy tabloid: fiction and poetry share space with gossip, sex and tell-alls. Umm…, founded by gallerist Tif Sigfrids, resurrects the spirit of the free alt-weeklies for an artworld that has forgotten how to have one.
The print-only publications are making a single issue about what happens when generations, scenes and sensibilities crash into each other and stop communicating all together.
